Discovery: Stone Seal #577

also Shevat 11, 5768 original calendarHere is another discovery of solid information which confirms the accuracy of The Bible. This information will be presented at a conference in Jerusalem three days from now as I write which will be SONday.
A stone seal has been uncovered in an archeological excavation in Jerusalem's City of David neighborhood. The seal has the name of one of the families who acted as servants in the First Temple, were exiled to Babylonia, and then returned to Jerusalem. The 2,500-year-old stone seal with the name "Temech" engraved on it was found in a dig just outside the Old City walls near the Dung Gate.
The Book of Nehemiah tells us the Temech family were servants of the First Temple, were captured, and were taken as prisoners to Babylon following the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Bible also says the family was among those allowed to return to Jerusalem later.
The seal is black stone and shows two priests standing beside an altar and a crescent moon (the symbol of the main Babylonian god named Sin) over the altar. The three Hebrew letters which spell Temech are at the bottom.
The stone seal was found near the Opel area where servants of the Temple (called Nethinim) lived when Nehemiah was alive. No proof existed before this about the Temech family. This was another of the many subjects scoffers used to claim The Bible is fiction. Now another new discovery shows us The Bible is correct even about amazing details.
