"MOUNT EVEREST"

Mount Everest

I would like to share a few thoughts about three mountains that I hope will be encouraging to those who are earnestly waiting for His Return.

Mount Everest: at the top is the closest man can be to heaven (physically).  I find it interesting that the name of the world’s highest mountain is Everest!  When He comes to take us to be with Himself that is what we will do - ever rest in His Presence, enjoying the pleasures for evermore at His right hand.  On 29 May 1953 Edmund Hillary and (Sherpa) Tenzig Norgay reached the top of Everest.  The death of Edmund Hillary on 11 January 2008 is a timely reminder of this achievement.  News of the success by a British expedition (even though Hillary was a New Zealander) reached England on (or just before) the day of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation - one of England’s finest moments.  How the glory of the Empire has faded and England is now becoming subsumed within the European Community, the Antichrist Kingdom ‘not like any other kingdom’ (formed on economic not military power).  Hillary’s death came one day after the 666 motion (albeit a backbencher motion) in the House of Commons (se Deborah’s 14 January post).  Interesting.

Mont Blanc: the unveiling.  In June 2003 I travelled to Geneva with my work and had the opportunity to go to Mont Blanc.  I would like to share an experience that reflects where we are at in God’s unfolding purposes.  At the lookout close to the top of Mont Blanc we were surrounded by cloud - we could see the snow, but not in its full glory.  Then the cloud cleared and the sun shining on the snow was one of the most beautiful sights I have seen.  We see His purposes through a glass darkly, but for those watching for His return He is burning off the cloud so that, in His Word and through His judgments and the outpouring of His Spirit we will see the unfolding and resplendent glory of His coming.  A little while ago I parked my car looking across water as the sun set behind a mountain, with glorious rays.  The Holy City was playing loud on the tape and I caught a glimpse of the glory to come.

Mount Wellington (Hobart, Tasmania):  this mountain is often snow covered and on the road up, near the top, there are high posts to show the depth of the snow.  As we edge ever closer to the Rapture the warning posts get ‘higher’ and 2007 was a pivotal year, peaking in Annapolis.  They are about to go off the scale, as we witness the demise of the United States economy (with more to come).  Possible rapture dates may come and go, but we know that we are nearing the top of Everest - do not look back, or down, or question why (some of these were markers to help us get to where we are - look up, watch the signs for our redemption is drawing nigh!  It is imminent!  Maranatha
