Marcia, I have worked for 3 different Catholic hospitals and unwed mothers do not deliver their babies into pails of water.  Their OB-GYN departments are wonderful. Catholics do value the unborn child and the newborn.  They are anti birth control and abortion.  They would not kill a newborn baby no matter what the circumstances.
