"Noah and the Rapture"

Noah and the Rapture

Lots can be said about Noah and the Rapture.  Surely, something prophetic to be learned is here as Jesus clearly said “as in the days of Noah”.  There are practical aspects no doubt – eating, drinking, marrying and given in marriage, but God operates on many levels and it certainly is worth investigating.

Here is a simple premise I’ll start out with and build on:

·         Doves are symbolic for good – either angels, saints, Holy Spirit

·         Ravens are symbolic for evil – demonic/satanic beings or influences

I believe Noah stands in the position of Jesus in this prophetic archetype.  He is the builder of the ark, just as Jesus through the wood & blood (tar) saves us from judgment so Noah and the Ark take he and his family through the waters of judgment (water standing for Spirit).

Noah died in the year 2006 and so it is believed that the year that just passed 2006, has prophetic parallels.  Noah’s time on the Ark lasted one year, and so to properly look at this we need to continue on with what we have seen for one year to be completed at November 2007.

The dates of Noah are controversial.  I have to say I’m a novice and not a scholar, but I thought I’d try and take a “shot” at mapping out the dates.  I’m not sure of all the experts’ opinions, but without looking I’m already aware there is much disagreement.  I think God put these dates in his word for a reason.  For all the “naysayers” concentrating on you cannot know the day and the hour, what about dates listed in the Bible?  God does not ask us to “check our brain at the door” (come let us reason together…) and there are dates here.  I feel that even if I don’t get it right it may Here is my “broad” stroke attempt:

Genesis 7

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month (Cheshvan 17 Hebrew, November 8th for us in 2006) — on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

13 On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

The ark stands for Jesus.  With Noah and his family they were protected by the Ark as the “rain of judgment fell”.  When we trust Jesus in our heart of hearts, we enter the ark.  This is similar to, when Israel put the blood of the lamb on the doorposts.  Later, they too would need to be rescued from “waters of judgment”.  I believe these waters of judgment stand for God’s Spirit of Justice.  Yes, he does have grace, but it is through the Ark, Jesus Christ his son.  If you are not “in the Ark” then you too will be swept away by the “waters of judgment” as the persons of Noah’s time were and also Pharaoh’s armies.

17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth.

1 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,

Genesis 8

6 After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.

Notice here that Noah makes a “window” which I believe is significant.  A spiritual “window”?  Notice the Raven is sent out, but it never returns to Noah and it keeps flying until the “judgment waters” are dried up from the earth.

8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.

The dove returns to Noah.

Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.

Notice the dove returns, but his time with an olive leaf!

13 By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.

Much more to learn here and this study is yet incomplete, but there is enough here to both learn and discuss.
