"re:"Knowing the Day and Hour""

I went to this site of Bob Schlenker's and find what he says more confusing than just reading what God's Word says.

If simplicity is the key, as we are told in 2 Corinthians 11:3;

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Then perhaps a "simple" look at what is said about this "knoweth no man" quotation that is so often misinterpreted. All one need do is look at the preceding statement and add the simplicity of Christ and voila! We can easily know just what "day" is being spoken of.

Matthew 24:35 and 36;

35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

 36: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mark 13:31 and 32;

31: Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

 32: But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

And then we ask when is  "that day" found? 2 Peter 3:10 and Revelation 21:1;

3:10: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

21:1; And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

So, simply put, the "day and hour knoweth no man" is the day God destroys this heaven and earth and the new one comes.

Where all of the supposition comes from surrounding the return of Jesus and this passage is beyond understanding. God gave simple instructions in Deuteronomy 4:2 and Proverbs 30: 5 & 6. Perhaps we would be better off to heed them.

Deut. 4:2; Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

Pov. 30:5 & 6: 5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

I'll stick with the simplicity of His Word. It eliminates all of the explanations that seem to add more than is truly there.

In Christ,
