Re: Marilyn Agee's angel comments and Zech 5:9.
Marilyn says she believes the two women represent religious groups.

I have never heard of a religious group with wings.

Taking the Bible literally allows it to interpret itself.

Hi:

As you know, I'm all for taking the Bible literally as much as possible, but some passages are obviously symbolic. For instance, believers are wheat in Mt. 13:30.

In Zech. 5:5-11, "an ephah" (the largest wheat measure) is symbolic of the largest Christian church, the Catholic Church. Verse 6 tells us why. It says, "What is it? And he said, This is AN EPHAH (singular, one basket) that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is THEIR (plural) resemblance through all the earth." Therefore, even the ephah represents a church group.

Zech. 5:9-11 says, "Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out TWO WOMEN, and the wind was in THEIR WINGS; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah (i.e., the headquarters of the Catholic Church) between the earth and the heaven. Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah? And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar (Babylon): and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base."

The two women that fly it to its new headquarters in Babylon could easily represent Catholics and Protestants that are joining together in the World Church. I think these wings are symbolic of flight in an airplane. Rev. 17:18 says, "And the woman (representing a religious group) which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth." That city is Vatican City. There will be a new headquarters built in Babylon. The artifacts, etc., belonging to the Catholic Church will be flown to Babylon to be put in the new World Church headquarters built there.

There is a similar use of wings in Rev 12. The woman represents a religious group, the Messianic Jews, Israel's believing remnant. Verse 17 says, "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the REMNANT of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

The remnant of her seed is given wings to fly to Petra. Rev. 12:13,14 says, "And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child (Christ). And to the woman (representing a religious group) were given TWO WINGS of a great eagle, THAT SHE MIGHT FLY INTO THE WILDERNESS, into her place (Petra), where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (3.5 years), from the face of the serpent."

The wings in Zech. 5 are "like the wings of a stork". The wings in Rev. 12 are like the "wings of a great eagle." Neither has to represent the wings of an angel. Ex. 19:4 says, "Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself."
2Sa 22:11 says, "And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind." The wings of the cherubim are symbolic.of the wings of the wind, and the wind has no real wings.

Psa 17:8 says, "Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy WINGS." These wings may represent the rings of Saturn. When we see Saturn with the ring plane tipped, the rings look like wings. Psa. 57:1 says, "Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy WINGS will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast."

Wings are symbolic in Psa 139:9. It says, "If I take the WINGS of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea".

Jer 48:9 says, "Give WINGS unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein." These wings may also turn out to be the wings of an airplane.

Using eSword, I searched for verses using "wings of an angel" and "angel's wings." It didn't find any.

Agape,
