> > Is this a picture of the rapture? I believe so.It is hard to be sure what the man child represents. Since Rev. 12:7-9 is Mid-Trib, I once thought that the man child that was caught up to God could represent God's two witnesses. They are ki! lled Mid-Trib, resurrected and caught up to God after 3 1/2 days (Rev. 11:9).
However, I have changed my mind. Remember God's picture book given mankind before the Bible was written down? The Gospel in the Stars is told by the Zodiac and other constellations in the heavens. God named the stars (Psa. 147:4). Their names help tell the story of Jesus Christ.
Virgo is the first constellation telling the story of Jesus. Leo is the last. Jesus was born of a virgin, was sacrificed for us, was resurrected, and ascended to Heaven. He is also the Lion of the tribe of Judah that will return as the King of kings and Lord of lords.
I finally accepted that Jesus is the man child born of a virgin in Rev. 12:5. Why? The two witnesses were not born of a virgin. The Church was not born of a virgin. Nothing else even comes close to fitting. The man child has to be born of a virgin, so it is Jesus. Rev. 12:5 says, "And she (the virgin of Israel) brought forth a man child,! who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron, and her child was cau ght up (harpazo, as in I Thess. 4:17) unto God, and to his throne."
Rev. 12:1,2 says, "there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon (epi, on, over, or above) her head a crown of twelve stars: (In the sky, Corona Borealis is above Virgo's head). And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered." The only thing in the heavens that fits this is the constellation Virgo. When Virgo, the virgin, is clothed with the Sun and the new crescent Moon is under her feet, the Hebrew date is Tishri 1, Jesus' birthday. The picture given us is perfect if we don't try to read more into it than is there.
Could this picture also represent the Rapture? Maybe. The Greek harpazo, translated caught up is used in both I Thess. 4:17 and Rev. 12:5. Since Jesus, the Head of the Body of Christ, was born on Tishri 1, the Feast of Trumpets, the Body of Christ," might also be born an Tishri 1. The ne! xt Tishri 1 will be Sept. 13, 2007, but we need more clues than this to be sure.
The woman in Rev. 12:6 is more than the virgin Mary of 5 BC. I think the symbol expands here to represent the Israelites of today that "have the testimony of Jesus Christ." They are "the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" of v. 17.
Rev. 6:6,14-17 says, "And the woman (i.e.,Israelites that believe in Yeshua/Jesus) fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place (i.e., Petra) prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days (i.e., during the last half of the 7-year Tribulation)...And to the woman (Israelites that believe in Yeshua/Jesus) were given two wings of a great eagle (maybe planes from the USA, whose symbol is an eagle), that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place (Petra), where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (i.e., during the 3.5-yea! r Great Tribulation), from the face of the serpent (Satan, who will be cast out of Heaven Mid-Trib;12:7-9). And the serpent cast out of his mouth WATER AS A FLOOD after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon (Satan) was wroth with the woman (i.e.,Jewish believers), and went to make war with THE REMNANT of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, AND HAVE THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST."
Flash floods are a very real problem at Petra. Below are some websites mentioning floods and water management.

Petra Water Works

Throughout the city of Petra are hundreds of underground water cisterns. Every possible drop of rainwater, as well as the water piped into the city was stored and used later.

http://nabataea.net/walk.html"The road will eventually lead you to the dam. This dam was built across the entrance to the siq, to keep water from rushing through the crack in the mountain and destroying the city of Petra. The Nabataeans cleverly bore a tunnel through the rock to divert the water into another valley. After Petra was deserted, the dam crumbled and flash floods raged through the siq for many centuries, destroying much of Petra's city center. "

"Petra, an Eroding Ancient City"
http://www.agiweb.org/geotimes/june04/feature_petra.htmlThe Nabataeans prevented floods from destroying the city through a damming system that diverted water from the wadi. They also lined the Siq — a gorge or narrow chasm that leads from the outside desert to the entrance of the old city and one of Petra’s largest monuments, known as the Treasury — with water channels. This system of channels and dams controlled water flow and erosion, and provided irrigation water to the settlement.
In addition to archeological investigations, satellite imagery is revealing just how sophisticated the Nabataeans were "in terms of sculpting the ground and the rock face to facilitate the natural flow of rainwater. That’s the way they could keep erosion minimized," Markoe says. "It’s the breakdown of that system over the past centuries that is contributing to the environmental hazard." Sand deposits and rocks carried by fla! sh flooding now bury the courtyard and steps that once led up to the imposing facade of the Treasury, Markoe says — piled more than 20 feet thick, "dramatic evidence of how quickly flash flooding can devastate the site," he says.

Ancient and Modern Watershed Management in Petra
http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=1094-2076(200212)65%3A4%3C220%3AAAMWMI%3E2.0.CO%3B2-NOne of the most serious problems facing Petra today is the seasonal flash flooding that occasionally occurs in the area, threatening man and monument alike. These flash floods were as much a problem in antiquity as they are today, as the Nabataean's ingenious hydrological systems, designed to control the flooding, attest. The author presents the results of a survey designed to document some of the dams built by the Nabataeans and a computer-based modeling of the watersheds with a view to offering a possible modern solution to this ancient problem.

Noah went into the Ark on Cheshvan 17 (Nov. 8, 2006). It rained 40 days and 40 nights (ending Dec. 18), then the sky cleared, but Noah stayed in the Ark one year. He stepped out on dry land on the following Cheshvan 27 (Nov. 8, 2007).
