"OSLO ACCORDS VERY MUCH ALIVE!"

Rumours that the Oslo Accords are dead are proving untrue. Some have taken the position that Bushs' "Road Map" has replaced them. The Road Map is a vehicle to get the peace process back on track. The Israeli and palestinian leaders themselves have invoked the Oslo process recently. In the below article, Abbas says he is following its implementation. The Israeli Knesset, Monday, rejected hammas candidates from running or campaigning in East Jerusalem under the Oslo Accords agreement of not dealing with any terrorist organization, of which hammas is categorized.

FROM THE REUTERS ARTICLE:

"We're ready to sit at the negotiating table immediately after the Israeli elections," Abbas said on Wednesday.

COMMITTED TO PEACEMAKING

Abbas also said he would not stay in office if he failed to implement a political agenda dedicated to ending violence and creating a Palestinian state through talks with Israel.

"I made the Oslo accord, I worked on Oslo, I believe in Oslo and its aftermath," Abbas, a veteran Palestine Liberation Organisation official, said about the 1993 agreement that set the framework for interim Palestinian self-rule in the West Bank and Gaza and negotiations on a comprehensive peace settlement."
