Yes, the Israelites refusing to hold the temple mount on June 7, 1967 because of unbelief does parallel refusing to take the promised land and having to wander 40 years in the wilderness.  However, wandering in the wilderness for 40 years from June 7, 1967 does not bring us to 2007.  That is because the Israelites did not count the number of years they wandered in the wilderness starting at zero.  They started counting at one.  As soon as they were in the wilderness they counted it as one, the first year.  After that year had passed, then it was two years.  The concept of zero was not around then, nor was it around even in Westernized countries till well after the Bible was written.

Another concept is how did they mark the time when they were in the wilderness?  They didn’t observe abib because there was no barley.  So they either counted twelve lunar months for each year and did not adjust it for anything or they adjusted it by adding an extra month whenever another event took place such as the spring equinox.  There is evidence that prior to 701 BC, which this would have been, the solar calendars used by the various ancient cultures had 360 days in it.  So either way, numbering our days, we come to 2005.

i.e.

June 7, 1967 + 29.530588 days/lunar month x 12 months/year x 39 inclusive year = April 8, 2005

 Or:

 June 7, 1967 + 360 days /prophetic year x 39 inclusive years = November 14, 2005

Shalom!
