"Thoughts on Pentecost"
Ever since 1998 when Marilyn Agee convinced us
of a Pentecost rapture, we have held fast to that persuasion. To our surprise,
the Bride is still here, but once again we are looking to this birthday
of the church as the "blessed hope."
As it approaches, we have been reviewing some of our
reasonings:-
1) Shavout (Pentecost) celebrates the giving
of the Torah; the
experiencing of the Divine
(God broke through the natural realm);
and the hearing of the
voice of God.
2) Exodus and Leviticus regard Shavout as
a feast of harvest or the
day of first fruits.
3) The major themes of Shavout are harvest,
revelation, and
marriage between God the
groom, and His bride Israel. In our
circumstances Jesus is
the groom and the bride are the "wise
virgins" taken out of
the church.
4) All of these themes come together in a
powerful manner in the
Book of Ruth at the beginning
of the harvest season.
5) The Book of Ruth is traditionally read
on Shavout with special
emphasis given to Ruth
when she says "for whither thou goest, I
will go; and where thou
lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be
my people, and thy God,
my God."
6) The count to Shavout begins when the sickle
is first put to the
standing grain which we
believe is Jesus at Passover.
7) Shavout marks the beginning of the harvest
season by bringing in
the first fruits of the
land to the temple... Jesus was the first of
the first fruits, and
we who are watching are candidates for the
remainder of the first
fruits harvest yet to be taken to the temple.
