Russia, China to hold joint wargames

[World News]: Moscow, Jan 28 : Russia and China are to hold their first ever wargames later this year, a senior defence ministry official here said.

"For the first time in the entire history of Russian-Chinese military contacts, the joint exercises will begin on our territory, where plans for the manoeuvres will be developed, while all tactical operations will take place on the territory of China," Russian First Deputy Defence Minister Col Gen Alexander Belousov told reporters here.

The wargames, to be held in August-September, will centre on measures aimed at deploying Russian units in China, joint military operations and joint efforts with PLAC against international terrorism, he said.

Russia's strategic airforce planes are also to participate in the joint Sino-Russian wargames, he said. PTI
