AMID TALKS, PALESTINIAN INSURGENTS CONTINUE ATTACKSGAZA CITY [MENL] -- Palestinian insurgents, despite negotiations over a ceasefire accord, continue to strike Israeli targets.
Israeli and Palestinian sources report that insurgents have kept up mortar and rocket attacks against Israeli civilian targets in the Gaza Strip. They said the insurgents stem from the ruling Fatah movement, which over the weekend was said to have agreed to a ceasefire.
On Monday, Palestinian gunners fired mortars toward Israeli communities in the Gaza Strip. There were no reports of injuries.
A Fatah wing led by Ahmed Abu Rish claimed responsibility for the attacks. A statement said the gunners fired three mortars into the Israeli community of Atzmona in the southern Gaza Strip.
