"Pakistan to free 25  suspects linked to Al Qaeda"

Pakistan plans to free up to 25 suspected militants with alleged links to Al-Qaeda.

The men were captured in a volatile region bordering Afghanistan.

They would be freed before a Muslim festival next week.

The Pakistani military said they were arrested during two big operations in March and June last year in South Waziristan.

Among those to be released are Edda Khan and Dawar Khan, said to be prime suspects harbouring foreign terrorists in the Shakai Valley.

Pakistan's remote tribes on the Afghan border were either threatened and offered incentives to hand over extremists believed to have fled from Afghanistan after the Taliban was ousted by US forces three years ago.
