Even as Jesus taught in parables, so too can He lead us to scripture, to be read as a parable message. Therefore the same message given as a parable in response to a request or question asked of the Lord, may have different meanings.
 
Yet at the same time, the literal word scripture always stands, though maybe not always as a literal response to a question.
