From Countdown to Eternity...The 7,000 Year Time-Line in The Book of Revelation

"The Kedushin follows another aspect of the early Jewish marriage ceremony in its connection to the prophetic time-line of 7,000 years.  Traditional Jewish married couples abstained from marital relations during the 12 days following the onslaught of the monthly menses or "7 days" (7,000 yrs) after its cessation.  During this time, the woman was considered separated or "unclean."  At the end of her time, the wife ceremonially immersed her body in a pool of water known as "mikva."  The water symbolically portraying, both physically and spiritually, the act of cleansing, and in the same association as Kedushin, the woman now stands symbolically as pure, clean, without spot or blemish (Lev 22:32-33; Isaiah 61:10), and ready to receive her husband."
