It goes along with the verse in Jeremiah 3: 16

"And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more,

"The ark of the covenant of the LORD:
neither shall it come to mind.
neither shall they remember it;
neither shall they visit it;
neither shall that be done any more"

It takes a Sanhedrin to establish the procedures for the Ark of the Covenant. But since our Lord tells Jeremiah that the Ark of the Covenant is no longer to be regarded, then the centerpiece of their Temple and religion is not to be regarded. That would include disregarding the concept of a Sanhedrin.

The entire Book of Hebrews explains a "better covenant" ( Hebrews 8:6)
" a better hope"  Hebrews 7:19 ; " a better testament " Heb. 7:22 ; " better promises"  Heb. 8:6 ;
 and "better sacrifices" Hebrews 9:23. ( a superior dispensation )

Chapter 7 of Jeremiah tells how even the Temple is not to be regarded, apart from the LORD. In that chapter it shows how people would swear by the Temple, but our Lord said that that did not confirm their integrity...only their ability to lie ( Jeremiah  7:4).

The LORD then reminds the people that He can remove Temples that are buildings only, such as He did at Shiloh. ( Jeremiah 7:12)

Ritual, ceremony, customs and traditions are worshipped by man. Religion can become meaningless and hollow ( Matthew 23 ).

When men cease to hear the message --- and instead idolize one sent in his own name --- they will then be turned over to their delusions to believe a lie ( 2 Thessalonians 2: 10, 11 ).

We are now approaching that time of religious deception.

" I AM come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not;
if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive"
John 5:43
