"ISRAEL AND THE SANHEDRIN"

Below are the paragraphs that stood out in this particular article. You may want to read the entire article.  If Elijah the prophet announces the coming of the Messiah to the Sanhedrin, is it possible that the False Prophet could also call himself Elijah and perform great signs and wonders, and announce the False Messiah (the Anti-Christ) to the Sanhedrin while the real Elijah does not arrive until the beginning of the Great Tribulation period which is 3 1/2 years long?

"Every member of the Sanhedrin had to be ordained, a ceremony handled by a court of three. Ordination could only be conferred in the Land of Israel. The traditional ordination was abolished in 358 AD during the Jewish persecution under Constantine."

"Religious Jews believe that the restoration of the Sanhedrin will precede the coming of the Jewish Messiah, who will be the King of Israel, and as such, can only be recognized by a duly ordained Sanhedrin court. Jewish tradition also believes that Elijah the prophet will announce the coming of the Messiah to this Sanhedrin."

"The danger in all this is that the Bible teaches that Israel will accept a false messiah who will bring about a peace agreement that will help to restore the temple sacrificial system and Jewish worship on the Temple Mount. According to Revelation 11, the Temple Mount will be shared."
