"Law verses Grace."

Law verses Grace.

Many pastors will say that we live in the age of grace and that the laws and commandments of God were done away with at the cross.  But the next week’s sermon will be on God’s commandment to tithe.  Some how, the tithing commandment was able to cross over the blood line into the new covenant. I asked a pastor about this once and he said “How would we pay the bills (Payroll and church expenses without the tithe?”. The tithe in the Bible was a tithe of agriculture items (goats, lambs, wheat, etc.). There was no such thing as a tithe on money. Paul was a tent maker and he did not have to tithe. He was not required to tithe a 10th of a tent; only agriculture items were tithed.

The “age of grace” makes Sunday worship, Christmas, and Easter or anything else possible. With no laws or commandments; we get to be as God and choose what we want.

There are 613 commandments in the Torah and most of these do not apply today since there is no temple, priests, or sacrifices. (Jesus was our total sacrifice)  But are all of these done away with?

This is a hard thing to understand. Are God’s laws and commandment done away with or not. If they are done away with then why does it matter if the 10 Commandments are removed from courthouse? Our Government was founded upon the laws and commandments of God; was this a mistake because they don’t apply any longer?

And if the 10 commandments are for today shouldn’t we really call them the 9 commandments for the 4th has been removed by the church.
