"No more sea??"

This verse is something I struggle with because there are so many sea animals I would think a ocean or two would be needed. I have seen two theories on this that intrigue me 1) the sea is symbolic of the lost or unsaved which in the new earth there would be no lost and 2) the sea is referring only to the Mediterranean sea (which given what I have read recently about the Garden of Eden possibly having been were Jerusalem is now and that the Mediterranean sea didn't exist then makes me ponder this theory more). what do you all think of these two explanations of the no more sea??
