What Brother Daniels brings about is something I have been pondering for some time although I see it playing out like this.
The king of Persia did not directly try to wipe out the Jews but his proxy Haman was given the authority to do so. Likewise I believe Iran's proxy or proxies may do likewise. Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and the surrounding countries (peoples and enemies) may be used to attempt the destruction of Israel during Purim. This would account for the Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 prophecies  being fulfilled and explain why those countries are not in sight for Ezekiel 38. As a result Israels borders would be expanded but they would be greatly weakened. The prospect of great wealth due to the recent discoveries of oil and gas in Israeli territories and the embarrassing defeat and Israel's weakness may be the hook that brings Russia back for the Gog/Magog war in which God himself will defeat those armies.

This is just my thought process so keep that in mind!
