A suggestion I could offer to you about allergies is to always keep a supply of diphenhydramine on hand.  That's the generic form of Benedryl.  In fact, everyone should keep a supply of this in their stock of medicines for emergency use.  Two tablets of 25mg each would help to stop an allergic reaction if that was the cause of your symptoms.

On the internet, you can buy a bottle of about 200 tablets for less than $10. in some places.  I'm a retired R.N., and during my years of working in hospitals I've seen that this is the first medication given for any allergic reaction.
