Carol, upon listening to many people who have visited hell, they say they have seen Jesus visit there.   Also that there were ministers there who taught the word but never had a born again experience and were holding fake Bibles of fire.    They ask for mercy when they see Him but when He leaves the fire is so bad they begin to scream and they end up cursing the Lord.   I am uncertain why the Lord visits hell, but to me I think there is something to it.   When I was living in sin and drinking, I had a vision of myself in hell and I saw Jesus come into the black chamber where I was and He rescued me.    I wonder myself if He visits there to get people out who are in that state of their body that can be raised from the dead still, if He goes there to "rescue" someone on earth who is on the wrong path and give them a final decision to choose, and if He is there taking believers in their spirit so they can testify...and all of these visits the people in hell are seeing him and pleading but Jesus can't do anything about it because he gave them over to the devil.   He is a just God, so some people may be confused why they are in hell and when He is visiting for other purposes they ask Him and He tells them why they are there.
