"Dr. Eby No Prophet"
For those who take it upon themselves to judge
this saint so harshly I say to you, please be careful. You are on dangerous
ground with God. We are all on dangerous ground when we judge others and
do not give them the benefit of the doubt. When we jump on every little
word a person says and contradict their own experiences, as they remember
them, we are not allowing for them to be human. We make mistakes. We don't
always remember exactly. We aren't always able to repeat what was said
word for word unless under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Dr. Eby has been labeled a false prophet. For one to
be a false prophet he has to first be a Prophet. Dr. Eby was not a prophet
and never claimed to be.
Satan is "the accusor of the brethren." We should not
help him do his job. We should defend one another rather than looking for
an inaccurate word to expose. God says we should not attack one another.
He says we prove that we ourselves are really Christians by our obvious
love for one another. One of the reasons God forbids us judging others
is because most of the time we DO NOT have all the facts. We haven't sat
down with the other person and asked, "What did you mean by what you said?
Could it have been different than what you said?"
When and if God speaks to you personally, it is up to
you to interpret what you hear. Sometimes we miss God's meaning. At times
it is so clear it cannot be misunderstood. At other times, we put our own
beliefs on what is said, which can change God's meaning. Sometimes God
can only speak to us according to how much Bible we know or according to
our understanding of things at that time. I personally have had prophecies
come true in totally a different way than I expected them to happen. (His
ways are not our ways.)
In the Old Testament, if every so called false prophet
were to have been stoned to death, no Prophet would have survived but Samuel.
ALL the Prophets, including Moses, had words that fell to the ground. God
said that Samuel was the only one who words did not fall to the ground.
Also a false prophet had to speak words to deliberately cause people to
turn away from God and follow that person. You did not kill the prophet
who's words did not "seem" to come to pass. God said simply not to be afraid
of that prophet. The flip side of that coin is you had better be afraid
of a real Prophet because he hears from God and he or she can read your
mail and tell you all that is in your heart.
Now you get to the New Testament. The Word says that
ALL may prophesy. God says to desire earnestly to prophesy. Prophecy edifys
the Church. Not all, actually not many, that prophesy stand in the Office
of Prophet. Therefore those "words" which may be less than perfect by people
who are not prophets do not carry the same weight as what is given thru
a Prophet. Not all prophecies, personal or otherwise, will come true because
of various reasons. If you do not believe in a prophecy, you can stop it
from coming true for you.
Sometimes we wage spiritual warfare by the personal prophecy
spoken over us as Paul told Timothy. Once you know a word is truely from
the LORD, hold onto it until it comes to pass. If you know God said it,
do not allow anyone to talk you out of it!
Also generally speaking the person prophecying gives
only words of edification, comfort or encouragement. That is the gift of
prophecy. Almost always no explanation of Scripture or words of correction
come thru one who is not a Prophet. It is therefore not lawful to label
someone who just prophesies as a false prophet.
Unless a prophecy is written in the Word Of God, they
are now all subject to fail. Of course we still need Prophets today. However,
they no longer set cannon of Scripture. We are under grace so the fate
of a Prophet who may not have learned accuracy yet is not the same. I know
of some Prophets today who seem to not have had any failed prophecies.
Most of those prophecies are not sweetness and light but correction. In
them God gives the consequences of not repenting. Repentance can change
the outcome of a prophecy, if God has talked of judgement.
At the same time God admonishes us to, "Believe the Prophet,
and so shall ye prosper." Prosper here means if you believe what was said
and act on it, you will be safe, be delivered, or led in the path of victory
or how you should proceed in a situation or in your life. God is still
able to save us from ourselves as well as from our chief enemy when we
need to hear the Prophet's voice.
As a result of this discussion about Dr. Eby on the Doves,
I have gotten an understanding of a verse of Scripture that has puzzled
me somewhat. I felt led to ask God to explain what He meant when He said,
"whether there be prophecies, they shall fail..." He was not putting down
prophecies. I believe I heard Father say to my spirit, "Prophecies will
fail when they run out of time." True prophecies may be spoken over us
about something yet to happen in our lives. If the Rapture happens before
the prophecy comes to pass, time for that prophecy has run out. It will
fail to come to pass. God says, "for then we shall see face to face (with
Jesus!).
Praise be the LORD of glory, Who is for us and not against
us. He isn't waiting in the sky with a big stick to hit us over the head,
if we do not always get it right. He "cuts us some slack." Let's try to
do the same for our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ.
