"Thank you R1000! Re: E'li , E'li , la'ma sa-bach' tha-ni"

To R1000 and Doves,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing the information regarding the relationship between Psalm 22 and Christ's words on the cross! Even today as I was listening to Luke on CD, I came to these verses and was troubled by their meaning. It's interesting that Jesus follows a similar approach in teaching and proving His deity through prophetic fulfillment when in the temple in Luke 4:17-19 He reads out of the scroll of Isaiah the very prophecy He was fulfilling at that time in His ministry:

17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me  to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners  and recovery of sight for the blind,  to release the oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

I'm forwarding your text to others in my small group. You've blessed me beyond measure!

In Christ,
Sandy
