"To Frank - funny story illustrating the importance of audibly hearing the Word"

Dear Frank and Doves,

Since you have brought up the book "Heaven is So Real" I have a somewhat humorous instance to share and a moral to this story. After reading the book the first time I confess I went away kind of smugly thinking to myself that there was sure a lot of changing in and out of clothes discussed, as well as, all this talk of a powder room. It just all seemed to be soooo in the "earthly vernacular" for me to accept as "of God". In any event a couple of months later I was listening to my Bible on CD and was in Ezekiel 42. When verse 14 was read, describing activities in the Millennial temple, the Lord said to me very succinctly " This is the reason for all the changing. ". I immediately knew what He was referring to even though it had been a couple of months since I had picked up the book. I was stunned that He in fact had remembered my thoughts and was bringing them to my attention. I can't tell you how many times I have read Ezekiel in the past yet the events in verse 42 just didn't register as significant to me.

Ezekiel 42

14 Once the priests enter the holy precincts, they are not to go into the outer court until they leave behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they go near the places that are for the people."

The moral to this story is 1) it's amazing how many things we don't actually think of as being of God are in fact very much of God; and 2) audibly hearing the Word versus just reading it allows the Holy Spirit better access to our spiritual ears - quite simply we're more in receiving mode!

YSIC,

Sandy
