Dear Frank:

In response to your dream, I have a couple of thoughts.  I
would imagine that you had a great relationship with your
mom and that you miss her very much.  And we cannot
control our dreams.  Whatever comes, just does.  I, based
on my experience, have head and have it happen to me that
our dream state may be a place to connect with the spirit
world.  I do not do this on purpose, but I have had so
many times that I awake with some "thing" hanging over me
that my eyes actually see.  I have talked to several of my
psychotherapy clients who have had dead loved ones try to
contact them in their sleep.  To me, there is a strong
chance tht these kind are familiar spirits.  God allows
what God allows, and I would think dreams included.  I do
however, for myself, draw a strong line about not talking
to dead or possibly familiar spirits because the Lord just
says don't do it.  Many times he saves us from opening
ourselves up to things that we have no clear knowledge of
what we are getting into.  To me, this is one of those
areas.

The Holy Spirit operates by giving us Words of Knowledge
and prophetic words.  Again, God can operate in any way he
wishes, but it does not seem that he would go asainst His
owrds and ask us to do something he tells us not to in the
Word.  If it helps, do a Strong's Concordance word search
on "familiar" and "spirts" and see if it clears anything
up for you.
