Yes , you got it  right. As christians , we have to pray each day and ask God about our needs. The question about asking God several times  is biblical.

It can be checked in our Bible in  Mt. 26: 39 - 42   when Jesus prayed God about  the cup..

.... if it was possible to be passed away... Jesus showed us how to pray.

Jesus gave us an exemple in  LUKE 18  : 1- 8   the story of the Persistant Widow.

She did not ask once but many times.  So should a christian pray to God.
