Mt. 1 :16    The   JOSEPH  mentionned here is not the husband of Mary. All Bibles that I have checked are wrongly writing this down. ( King James , New King James, Thompson,

Jerusalem Bible, Louis Segond  , Tob, etc...)  The answer is in  Mt 1 :17  It says that there are  14 generations for each time periods.   So , from Babylon  to   Christ we should read 14 generations . If you read  V. 16  it says that Joseph is the husband of Mary ; this would only be  13  generations and not 14.  The answer is that ...The Joseph mentionned in Mt. 1:16  is the  FATHER  of Mary and that would give Jesus the  14  th    generation.

In all   42  generations (   6  X  7  ).

Now lets look at  LUKE 3 : 23... Jesus is the son of  JOSEPH son of Heli, son of  Matthat son of   Levi son of    Melchi ......

Mt 1:16... This Joseph is the son of  Jacob son of Matthan son of Eleazar son of Eliud ...

 

The Bibles should be corrected and not transcribed from  old mistakes from one to the others.  The Josephs  Are two different persons.

It is to say that  Mary  married a man  by the name : JOSEPH   and  her father was also called : JOSEPH.    Jesus had two different GRANDFATHERS .The father of his DAD was  Jacob... and the father of his Mom  was Heli.
