"Pray for Travis Mullis"

Dear John & Doves ...

I am sure that most of us have seen the horrifying story of Travis Mullis, who confessed to murdering his 3 month old son Alijah Mullis by literally stomping on his baby's little head until he "felt it collapse", and then left his dead baby boy and the car seat he rode in by the side of the road near Galveston Texas.

Travis Mullis fled and eventually turned himself in to police in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and will soon be brought back to Texas to stand trial for his crimes.

This crime disturbs me deeply, as I'm sure it does all of you and I was reading an article in the online Houston Chronicle, and amid the comments on Travis Mullis (nearly all of them condemning him), there was one comment that I would like to share with you all, from somebody calling themselves "BigJoeyK", who is probably a better man than I am, but I'm going to try to follow his example.

The Lord Be With You All

"Travis Mullis has murdered the most innocent and helpless human life, in a manner so brutal and vile that it defies all human comprehension. What kind of depraved mind conjures up such wicked and vicious thoughts, let alone carry them out?!?

The soul residing within Mullis must be so dark, that even the spontaneous flash of a nuclear explosion would produce only a brief flicker in whatever demonic vacuum exists within his heart.

I can only find comfort in the fact that Baby Alijah is now in the loving Arms of the Lord Jesus Who said "Let the little children come to Me", that little life that was brutally stomped out by his biological parental unit (I refuse to call Travis Mullis a 'father', thereby dishonoring all true fathers who love their children), Baby Alijah will never know pain, suffering and the agony inflicted upon him by the one who was *supposed* to protect him, ever again.

And yet as much as my flesh and my mortal mind resist the notion, my spirit is compelled to pray for Travis Mullis. His soul is lost, but even as horrible a deed as he's done can still be forgiven by the Lord Jesus Christ, if he will but ask Christ to forgive him and save him from what is certainly an impending eternity in Hell.

Even someone like Travis Mullis falls under the category of 'hate the sin, love the sinner', as repulsive as that concept must be in this situation, but my Saviour expects nothing less of us, if we hope to truly be worthy of being called 'His Children'.

It would be the easiest thing in the world to hate Travis Mullis and feel justified in doing so, but I can't do that. I pity him, and as much as I rebel at the thought, I *will* pray for him."
