To Peggy, Steve, Mike and Barbara,Thanks for your thoughts and wisdom. Of course, your answers have probed more questions but I’m going to try to do some of the research on my own. It gets me in the Word. It’s great to look to each other for guidance, but nothing beats the Word of God for divine revelation! You also provided me with several links to look at. I looked up some information last week and found some different views. I’ll check these links out too.
Barbara, Thanks for the information. I also wanted to let you know that I don’t teach Science. I actually teach Special Education grades K-3. The Scholastic News article on dinosaurs was part a reading unit that we were working on. I don’t envy Science teachers today either. :)
Also to Peggy,
Would you mind putting my husband’s mother on your prayer request? She is suffering from ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. We are sooooooo praying for a miracle. My husband comes from an entire family of unsaved members. My husband’s brother died of a brain tumor at the age of 26 and I was able to witness to him and pray the prayer of salvation with him before he died. Other than that, I don’t think any others are saved.
Anyway, his mother’s name is Janet. Please pray that the disease of ALS will miraculously disappear from her body. I believe a miracle from God is what this family needs to see in order to come to Jesus. Pray that a born again believer from the community would visit her and pray with her. She is a 24 hour drive from me, so it’s hard for me to do that.
When I was growing up, there were Freddy Clark tent revivals all over my state where the power of God was so moving that several people were healed. This included my sister (who was a teenager at the time) who was instantly healed of epilepsy. Where are these revivals today? Are they still out there?
Thanks Peggy, and all Doves for your love and support……..as always.
