Praise the Lord that Richard's hours were changed!  That's awesome!
 
Now, this is just an idea from an old dog lover--but why don't you try putting something of Richard's like a "previously worn"* tee shirt over an old pillow in or near her bed?  With a dog's sensitive nose, it would be something for her--to cuddle and it would "smell" like Richard was still there.  It just might do the trick. It would kinda of be like a "boyfriend pillow" for her, that smells like the boyfriend!  But Peggy just remember, it's ONLY FOR THE DOG!  LOL
 
Also maybe a new, fun distraction, like a new game or competition for treats about the time he leaves for work....
