Pardon me while I rant.  Somebody needs to be ranting on this subject.

As you probably know, there has been another school shooting at Northern Illinois State University. Six are reported dead and many wounded.

This tragedy has become epidemic.

In most or all cases, prescribed psychotropic or psychoactive (psychiatric) drugs are a factor.  I have long believed that such drugs are not just a factor but they are a cause, and this opinion is backed up by medical opinion.  Thus, the shooters may not be evil, but themselves are victims of our drugged culture.

The problem is that the huge, profit-driven pharmaceutical industry, in close cahoots with the medical industry, wants to get every citizen hooked on their drugs from the cradle to the grave.  It is a manifestation of greed -- not good medicine.  But it is tempting for doctors, who can dispense quickly with patients by just writing a prescription for one of the many pills, and the wisdom of that will be backed up by their own industry and peers, helping them avoid a lawsuit.  In fact, the scam is so embedded and established, if they do not write such a prescription, they can be sued!

If a kid has any kind of behavioral problem, the solution is to give him some pills.  There are pills for everything.  On one medical Web site I found over 50 psychotropic drugs that are prescribed to people every day.  For sure, we have become a drugged culture.

The pills are driving some people crazy and driving them to violence and suicide.  Teenage suicide rates have soared in recent years.  I am convinced part of the reason is the legal drugs they are given.

But if you have a loved one who is on them, do not allow them to stop abruptly.  One well-known and respected M.D. says too-rapid withdrawal can also cause or exacerbate such violent reactions.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS IN GENERAL

The new prescription drug coverage of Medicare is a cash cow dream for the pharmaceutical industry and threatens to bankrupt the whole system.  One medical doctor asked a patient if he would like a drug-free but strict regimen to solve his physical problem or would he like some pills.  The patient replied, "Give me the pills."

Got a pain?  Take a chemical drug.
Can't sleep?  Take a chemical drug.
Moody?  Take a chemical drug.
Depressed?  Take a chemical drug.
Want to be a winning athlete?  Take a chemical drug.
Your child talks too much?  Drug the kid.
Your child is unruly?  Drug the kid.
Got any problem?  Take a chemical drug.
And on and on....on

The Greek word "pharmakeia" in the New Testament, where we get the word "pharmaceutical," translates as sorcery, magical arts, witchcraft, and often found in connection with idolatry.  It is called a "work of the flesh" in Galatians 5:20.

Revelation 18:23 says, "by thy sorceries (pharmakeia) were all nations deceived."  The nations are deceived by an obsession that pharmaceutical drugs are the answer to every problem.  Probably most Westerners are walking around with their bodies full of chemical drugs.

Speaker Jeff Allen says that all drugs are toxic.  All of them are poison.  All of them can kill you.  If they cannot, by definition they are not a pharmaceutical drug.  In testing, all drugs are given to a test group of laboratory animals and they keep increasing the dosage until half of them die.  That's called an "LD-50 rating" (Lethal Dose, 50 percentile).
 
The LD-50 is the lethal dose for half of the test group.  Doctors are supposed to prescribe less than a LD-50 lethal dose; however, according to the Los Angeles Times, the California Association of Physicians and Surgeons, and even the Center for Diseases Control, well over 100,000 people in this country die each year from prescription drugs.  They must not have fit neatly into that lower 50 percentile bracket.  Oops -- those dead people were just a statistical problem.
 
NOTE: If just .01% of that 100,000 (or 10) died from a natural substance from a health food store or MLM company, it would immediately be a national scandal, it would be in every headline, and it would be banned from the shelves of the health food stores, and its marketing would be prohibited!  But 100,000 dead people from prescription chemical drugs rarely rate even mention in the media.
 
One study has shown that more than two million American hospitalized patients suffered a serious adverse drug reaction (ADR) within a 12-month period, and of these, over 100,000 died as a result. Likewise, roughly 36,000,000 adverse drug reactions are reported annually, resulting in more than 33.6 million admissions or hospitalizations all from drugs that the FDA has pronounced "safe and effective."

What if that had happened with a natural health food?  ABC's 20/20 would have TV specials about it every night about it and the FDA and pharmaceutical companies would be screaming to ban it.
 
A statistical study of hospital deaths in the U.S. conducted at the University of Toronto revealed that pharmaceutical drugs kill more people every year than are killed in traffic accidents.  Yet, the government smiles on that killer industry and often persecutes the companies that promote harmless natural products.

How often has a prescription drug healed anyone of anything, or done any more than mask symptoms and delay disease progression?
