Dear friends:This morning, Dr. James Dobson was a guest on Glenn Beck's radio program. Beck is so upset at how the elections are going, and the direction in which the nation is heading, that he says he may not be able to vote in November. He says in good conscience he probably will not be able to vote for Clinton, Obama, or McCain.
Dr. Dobson agreed and said this may be the first Presidential election where he did not vote. Both agreed there comes a time when conscience must absolutely rule when voting. Dobson asked, "If you were back in the 1800s and two excellent candidates both supported slavery, would you be able to vote for either of them?" He said no.
Many people will vote their party no matter what they stand for and regardless of principles. ["Party spirit" is condemned as a work of the flesh in Galatians 5:20 (RSV), translated as "heresies" in the KJV, but the Greek literally means "sects" or "parties." It could relate to political parties.] Many otherwise principled and moral people will vote for someone who favors killing unborn babies just because of their political party. It is an abomination, and such voters will be held accountable by God.
For months, Beck has been proclaiming eschatology on his radio and TV program, and is convinced all the signs are pointing to the end of the age and all that goes along with it. Even though a Mormon, Beck has an understanding of eschatology that is as good or better than many biblical Christians. At first Dobson seemed hesitant to weigh in on that subject but finally admitted that we may, indeed, be at or near that prophesied time in history. The two were in agreement. Because of my interest in this subject, their conversation literally gave me goose bumps.
