"This Generation"

THIS GENERATION!

·  Numbers 32:13
And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

·  Psalm 95:10
Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

According to the above scripture a generation is 40 years.  Not 70 years.  We Americans have gotten accustomed to living long lives.  We think about “the greatest generation.”  The Tom Brokaw generation, ad-nauseaum.  The Lord has always considered a generation as 40 years.

When does a nation exist or not exist?  Does a nation exist when its administration exists but has never been placed in power?  Between 1918 and 1948, there was NO Israeli government.  There were Zionists in “Palestine,” intensely hated by the British and Palestinian a like, but the Zionists were not in power.  This is why America’s founding does not precede the Signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Boston Tea Party or even earlier.

Israel was born on May 14, 1948, when the British Manadatory Government of Palestine, Lord Cunningham hopped onto the HMS Euryalus and hauled tale out of town, because he knew that the Arab nations were going to attack the Jews and he wanted to wash his hands of the mess just like Pontius Pilate washed his hands of Jesus’ blood.  It was great that America supported Israel through Harry Truman’s recognition of the Jewish Administration in Palestine on May 14, 1948.  He still did not send troops, or guns, or planes, or any other help.

Israel was far before any tender age of 20 on May 14, 1948.  Israel was in as great a state of danger as a newborn child with its own arsenal, no army, and nations of armies marching against it.

If Israel was in fact tender on May 14, 1948, and we followed the Biblical generational time standard of a 40 year generation, then the church should have been raptured in 1988.

I’ll have little explanation for myself if we aren’t having a forum meeting in heaven on June 12, 2008, but the idea that the generation spoken of in Matthew 24 is based on a seventy year generation which began in 1948 has no singular basis in fact, in history, or in scripture!
