I love Pastor Riley and do not want to offend him, but I want to point out a few things he may have overlooked. He said he believes that Jesus was born in 3 BC and died at the age of 33 in 30 AD . If you simply add that up, it's not 33 years of age... so everything else he's basing that on is going to be off too. I could just summarize this, but for the sake of absolute clarity, I've included the entire calculation from 3BC to 30AD:
start - end # of years
3BC - 2BC = 1yr
2BC - 1BC = 2 yrs
<no year zero!>
1BC - 1AD = 3 yrs
1AD - 2AD = 4 yrs
2AD - 3AD = 5 yrs
3AD - 4AD = 6 yrs
4AD - 5AD = 7 yrs
5AD - 6AD = 8 yrs
6AD - 7AD = 9 yrs
7AD - 8AD = 10 yrs
8AD - 9AD = 11 yrs
9AD - 10AD = 12 yrs
10AD - 11AD = 13 yrs
11AD - 12AD = 14 yrs
12AD - 13AD = 15 yrs
13AD - 14AD = 16 yrs
14AD - 15AD = 17 yrs
15AD - 16AD = 18 yrs
16AD - 17AD = 19 yrs
17AD - 18AD = 20 yrs
18AD - 19AD = 21 yrs
19AD - 20AD = 22 yrs
20AD - 21AD = 23 yrs
21AD - 22AD = 24 yrs
22AD - 23AD = 25 yrs
23AD - 24AD = 26 yrs
24AD - 25AD = 27 yrs
25AD - 26AD = 28 yrs
26AD - 27AD = 29 yrs
27AD - 28AD = 30 yrs
28AD - 29AD = 31 yrs
29AD - 30AD = 32 yrs
As you can see, if Jesus died in 30 AD, He was 32 years old-- not 33. Not only that, but you also have to take into account His actual birth DATE (month/day) if your are converting and counting DAYS to make sure that He was actually 33 years old on Passover of a given year.
SO... in other words, if (according to Riley's dates) Jesus was born in 3 BC, I would surmise that the birth date was on Feast of Trumpets that year-- 9/11/3BC (some may want to use another date, but I think this one is correct and since none is referred to in Riley's article, we'll just assume that it is).
Thus, on Passover of 30 AD, how old would He be?
Well, let's look at the above and keep going first, as we know we have to go into the next year so that Jesus is 33...
30AD - 31AD = 33 yrs
Keep in mind that we are counting from theorized birth date of FOT to FOT. If Jesus died in 31AD at Passover, this is several months short of Him turning 33 years old that year. It would mean that at Passover, He was still 32 years old.
So this means that Jesus would be 33 years old at His death on Passover the following year, 32AD, just a few months before He was to turn 34 years old on FOT.
Now if we again use Riley's methodology, and we want to be accurate in DAY COUNTING, then one would start counting from Passover of 32AD. From the calendar converter I used (http://www.geocities.com/atkuala/astro/cal_conversion.html), Nisan 14, 3792 is April 11, 32AD.
SO... we would have to start counting days BEGINNING at 4/11/32 and see where 2007 prophetic years would end up.
With the date counter I used (http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html) and calculating from 4/11/32 just to TODAY's date, the total days are 721,650 solar days. 721,650 divided by 360 prophetic years = 2004.583333333.....
As you can see, if you use his assumptions for the death of Jesus, and make SURE He was 33 years old at death, and then count from passover of the date of His death up to today, it isn't even close to the 2006 years he came up with. It is 2004 and some change...
In order to come out EXACTLY to 2007 prophetic years, you take 2007 x 360 and the product will be the number of days that needs to be counted starting on the assumed date of 4/11/32 being the crucifixion...
2007 x 360 = 722,520 days.
So, using the same date counter, I kept playing with it until it came out exactly to 722,520--- and the resulting date is June 19, 2010.
If that is the case, then we have time to kill.
Using the scale of dates for birth/death here is how the birth/death must relate if we are keeping in mind two things:
1) That there is NO YEAR ZERO
2) That Jesus was born on a FOT and died on Passover
These two things are often overlooked when people start counting years from a proposed date of Jesus' death. One thing that is most often overlooked is that if He died on Passover but was born on a Feast of Trumpets, then we have to make sure that we don't forget that the year he died we want to make sure that he was 33 at Passover, and would have turned 34 at FOT had he lived.
This is basically what it fleshes out to be if you write this all down on paper one line at a time:
5BC FOT birth and 30AD Passover death = 33 years
4BC FOT birth and 31AD Passover death = 33 years
3BC FOT birth and 32AD Passover death = 33 years
2BC FOT birth and 33AD Passover death = 33 years
From that, you can see that if one still believes that 30AD is the date of death, then one would have to believe that the date of birth was in 5BC-- there are very few people who would go that far back. But for the sake of argument, let's see where it takes us...
Now if we use Riley's methodology, and use his belief in a 30 AD death (which must include a 5BC birth), then one can start counting from Passover of 30 AD. From the calendar converter I used (http://www.geocities.com/atkuala/astro/cal_conversion.html), Nisan 14, 3793 is April 2, 30AD.
SO... we would have to start counting days BEGINNING at 4/2/30 and see where 2007 prophetic years would end up.
With the date counter I used (http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html) and calculating 722,520 days (2007 x 360 = 722,520) -- 722,520 days from 4/2/30 ends up at June 9, 2008 -
Pentecost/Feast of Weeks (well, that's interesting!)...
