TJ,I think one of the easiest passages to understand and yet is is so misinterpreted is the Gog/Magog event which is described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 just prior to the verse from 39:28.All one needs to do is look at the only other place in the Bible Gog of Magog is gathered to battle against Jerusalem.Revelation 20:7 & 8;7: And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,8: And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
It is during the 1,000 year millenial reign that Israel is gathered into their place as seen in Ezekiel 39:28.
It never says there is an actual battle. It only states God gathers Gog and his multitudes together then destroys them. And the one key passage is in Ezekiel 39:4;
Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
It is clear "ALL" Gog and all his bands and all the people with them are killed. That leaves none. This event is after the 1,000 years, just as the Bible clearly states.
Hope this helps.
