"The Gospel Road"

Dear friends:

Please indulge me a little nostalgia...

The other day while rummaging through some old boxes and looking for the previously mentioned angel tapes, I discovered my old audiotape of the late Johnny Cash's 1973 movie, "The Gospel Road." The movie is a musical about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, with Cash singing and narrating throughout, in his inimitable style.  It was all filmed in Israel.  The late June Carter Cash played Mary Magdalene.

I tried to listen to it but the old tape soon broke.  That just whetted my appetite.  I checked amazon.com and found I could order the DVD for only $9 to $11.  I did, watched it this week, and was greatly blessed.

If interested, you can also order it from amazon.com.  I ordered from the caiman_com link for $9.07 and was pleased with their service and promptness.

A controversial feature of the movie is they used a blonde, blue-eyed Jesus.  That doesn't match our preconceived ideas.  Some might say that this is impossible.  However, do not forget that Jesus was only half Jew, or half Semite.  Half of His DNA came supernaturally, by the Holy Spirit.  The other half is unknown.

The Jesus in this film showed His loving, human side.  I was particularly blessed by His love of and playful interaction with little children.  He was more real here than in many traditional depictions.

But anyhow, if you want to be blessed by a unique gospel presentation and with nostalgia enjoy the soulful voice of Johnny Cash with his usually great musical accompaniment, order the DVD.  Go to amazon.com and in Search type in "The Gospel Road."
