WE IN THE DAYS OF GOG AND MAGOG??
I
have become addicted to Joel Rosenberg's books! I am now reading the Ezekiel
Option.' The semi-fictional
story has Russia making
a move against the world and against Israel
with the help of a powerful Middle Eastern terrorist. In the book the head
of Russia,
who has taken over his country by force, is none other than the Biblical figure
known as Gog.' For those of you who have already read the 38th
and 39th chapters of Ezekiel, you know that there will be a great
confederacy of nations that seek to attack Israel
in the last days. I found out
an interesting fact from the book, which I researched, and found that Arab
writers confirm in their Arabic language the name for China's
Great Wall is called..get ready for this one 'The Wall of Al Magog!'
That is because this wall was built a long time ago to keep out invaders (Mongols,
Scythians, etc.) from the land of
Magog, or as we call it today, Russia.
We can see that the 2,500 year old prophecy of Ezekiel 38 is about
to be fulfilled!
We
can see both Russia and
Iran
have already joined forces and formed part of the Ezekiel confederacy. Russia
is building up Iran's
nuclear capabilities today. Other
nations such as Turkey,
Sudan, Ethiopia
and Libya
will soon join this evil coalition. When these players are successfully assembled,
and at the right time, they will make a move to attack Israel
from the north and enter into the war of Gog and Magog, as noted in these
prophecies of Ezekiel. If
the prophecies in Ezekiel 36, 37 tell us of Israel's rebirth in the vision
of the Dry Bones, the return of the Jews back to their God-given land after
centuries in exile, the blossoming of the desert and Israel filling the world
with her fruit, and the restored Jewish presence in Jerusalem,
we should trust that the succeeding chapters will also come to fruition
when we see that these preceding two chapters have already been fulfilled!
So
who is GOG?' Some have speculated that Hassan Nasrallah of Lebanon
or the President of Iran, (Ahmaddinejad) may be Gog. Or is Gog someone from
Russia?
What is MAGOG? According
to some scholars, Magog refers to Russia
and the republics of the former Soviet Union.
Many of these countries are the stans', we see today. (Afghanistan,
Pakistan, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgystan, Uzbekistan,
Turkmenistan-
many of these countries are within the old borders of the U.S.S. R.) Some
include Turkey
into this grouping. (Ez.
38) speaks of the "many peoples with you" who will attack along "the mountains
of Israel."
I believe that according to
(Psalm 83), almost all of the Moslem nations will be drawn into this
battle with possibly the exception of nations like Indonesia.
(logistics might prevent them from entering the fray even though they have
the world's largest Moslem population.)
God's
Word does identify Russia,
Turkey, Iranian, Sudan,
Ethiopia, and Libya
as partners in (Ez. 38). The many peoples' could be Israel's
neighbors to the north (Syria, Lebanon,) and neighbors to the East, (Jordan)
and neighbors to the south, (the Palestinians Arabia.)
All could be part of the larger coalition that comes to fight on the
mountains of Israel.
Can you see representatives from Hezbollah united with Russia
and every terrorist group being drawn into this epic battle to their own destruction?
Putting Ezekiel 38 alongside of Psalm 83 we can add countries
and peoples such as: Edom,
Ishmaelites, Moab, Gebal
(Lebanon), Ammon, Amalek,
Philistines, Tyre.)
All of Israel's
and God's enemies are drawn to one epic battle in their foolish effort to
exterminate Israel!
Russia's
mighty military might as well as all these other nations will meet their final
fate on these mountains under God's command!
Ezekiel prophesies a great earthquake and the turning of Gog's forces
against each other. God will also subject the enemies to "pestilence, blood,
torrential rains, hailstones and fire from heaven!"
Whether this is nuclear or not I do not know, but in the book of Zechariah,
the 14th chapter, men who fight against Israel
will have their eyes melted in their sockets while they are still standing!
This is a description of the damage from a neutron bomb!
Gog
will be the first enemy to go and then the rest will follow in the ensuing
days of the Great Tribulation. As
I see these things beginning to come to pass, I know that it is time to call
on the Lord, Come Lord Jesus! Take up your throne in Jerusalem!'
I will agree with many brethren
that we can truly hasten His coming by wanting Him to return! Not all Christians
want Him to- sadly enough and others have no blessed hope' which is the
rapture of the church. As for me, I am busy looking up! His redemption draweth
nigh!
CHRISTIANS
PERSECUTED IN UZBEKISTAN
Keeping
in mind the article above: Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) reports that Christians
living in Uzbekistan,
(a former Soviet bloc country and once a part of Tsarist Russia), face increasing
persecution from the country's Muslim population.
Between the former communists and the Muslims, a Christian must be
very cautious where he fellowships with other believers.
Small groups meet in home churches with no more than five meeting at
any given time for fear of being arrested, imprisoned, deported, or fined
by the government. Christians
are caught in the middle between the old line communist domination of religion
and between Muslims in the country, many who are becoming more radicalized.
Uzbekistan as well
as the rest of this region of Central Asia
declared their independence in 1991.
Since the time of their independence, 2,000.000 have left Uzbekistan
for Russia
and have left because of this persecution.
CHRISTIANS
PERSECUTED IN SYRIA:
According
to Rick Warren, Syria is a positive place for Christians and Jews to practice
their faith. Rick is either
being sold a bill of goods or is in denial as to the truth of the matter.
Thousands of Christians who have fled Iraq's
war have moved into Syria
and found that the grass is no greener over the border. Syria
is no safe haven for Christians. Syria
holds the typical Moslem position on Christianity. Christians could face life
in prison for talking about their beliefs to being disowned by your family,
to death for a Muslim who converts, according to ministries working there.
Now many Christians who fled
Iraq are claiming that
it was better back in a shack in Iraq!
Christian Freedom International reports that Syria
is one of the top ten nations known for persecuting Christians.
It is open knowledge that Saudi Arabia,
Iran, Dubai
and other Middle East nations are also well-known
for persecuting Christians. Syria's
constitution requires their president to be a Muslim and specifies that Islam
is the principal source of legislation. Sharing your Christian faith (witnessing)
with anyone is discouraged by the government as "posing a threat to the relations
among religious groups," and carries a penalty of up to life in prison. So
Christians in Syria DO face heavy persecution, as expected.
If you convert- it just might be better to leave the country. If you
stay, you will face harsh government guidelines and the ever present eye of
the Syrian version of Big Brother'.
Christians
who are flooding into Syria
from Iraq
leave behind a once thriving Christian community of 1.2 million believers.
Now there are only about 500,000 believers left. These Christians are choosing
being dead soon in Iraq
or taking their chances of dying a little later in Syria.
I know when we see believers under persecution in these areas we know that
God's wrath is rising! Judgment is coming to the nations that hate His name!
