"Jesus is our great I AM"
Jesus is our great I AM
Three is one of the most fascinating numbers in the Bible
because Gods' stamp of approval, completeness or resurrection is given
any time this number is contextually spoken of if it is divine or from
heaven. This is why the Devil seems to copy this number more than any of
the others because it is the first of the four perfect numbers."3", 7,
10 and 12. All of these numbers are associated with perfection. If what
I just said seems complicated don't be intimidated because this whole subject
is really very simple, yet you may find yourself pondering the vast infinite
nature of God.Worshipping God may become natural because we are so small
(not insignificant) and God is (1) Omniscient (2) Omnipresent and (3) Omnipotent.
Jesus Christ is the great "I AM." As I was studying the meaning of the
number three in the Bible the Lord gently spoke to my heart and desired
me to write about this subject.
Moses was a humble man hanging around a wilderness for
40 years. The Bible says in Exodus 3:13-14 (13)... "The God of your fathers
hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is His name? What
shall I say unto them? (14) And God said unto Moses, I AM that I AM: and
he said,"This shalt thou say unto the children of Is'ra-el, I AM hath sent
me unto you." I want you to stop and think about this title of our Father
in heaven. Jehovah relative to eternity would read "who is" which speaks
of the great "I AM", "who was"- that would be eternity past and "Who is
to come" which would point to eternity in the future. It does not surprise
me that eternity would be in three tenses because the Trinity is comprised
of (1) God The Father (2) His Son Jesus Christ and (3) The Holy Spirit.
The term "I AM" is always in the present tense which infers all three in
one; (1) Omniscient (2) Omnipresent (3) Omnipotent. A friend of mine pointed
out that every time Jesus Christ referred to Himself, He always started
out by saying "I AM." I AM the Door, I AM the Good Shepard, I AM the Truth
and the Life. This matches Exodus 3:14 ... "I AM that I AM: and he said,
this shalt thou say unto the children of Is'ra-el, I AM hath sent me unto
you."
Hopefully we can give God the glory in a greater way
and understand how we were made by our Creator Jesus Christ. The reason
why this is so important is because God Himself designed an order so perfect
that all a human being has to do is look at the magnificence of God with
amazement unless of course he or she chooses to be hard hearted against
God. This is not a time for the latter. It is a time for the former. When
we see God in glimpses of His Glory, the Holy Spirit starts to open our
heart even more. If we choose to be rebellious then we will become spiritually
blind to the truths of God and never really understand what the great "I
AM" desires to impart to us.
I will explain in detail about the (1) the Omniscience
of God (2) the Omnipresence of God and (3) the Omnipotence of God. These
three attributes of God that "is", "was," and "is to come" is, has always
been, and will always be a part of the essence of God. In our approach
to God I believe we should always acknowledge these three attributes because
it will help us understand the great I AM whom we serve and worship. What
other god ( notice I wrote god with a "small" g) is (1) Omniscient (all
knowing) (2) Omnipresent (everything is in His presence) and (3) Omnipotent
(God is all powerful and in perfect control of everything)? Only the great
"I AM" who is Jesus Christ (Yeshua).
God is Omniscient. This would have to be of some kind
of comfort for us to understand that God knows everything when we pray
to Him. Even if this seems fearful, remember Jesus Christ loves you and
He will work all things out for good in your life with purpose because
of His Omniscience. If He knew most things, how could God work all things
out for good? "(1) O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me, (2) Thou
knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought
afar off, (3) Thou compassest my path and my lying down and art acquainted
with all my ways, (4) For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O
Lord, Thou knowest it altogether." Psalm 139: 1-4. It is because He knows
all things that we as His children can trust Him because our Savior and
Lord Jesus Christ always desires the best for His children. This is supposed
to give us peace not fear, unless of course the trembling is done reverentially
toward God. How do we live this out? We acknowledge the great "I AM" and
we yield our spirit to the fact that God is all knowing. By doing this
God will show us great and precious truths because we are coming to Him
as little children. Remember this is how we got saved. Jesus Himself said
"Verily I say to you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as
a little child, he shall not enter therein." Mark 10:15. As Christians
it would be wise to approach God the very same way we received our salvation.
God will not show us anything unless we humble ourselves like a child before
Him.
God is Omnipresent. This is misunderstood because people
have God resting in trees, rivers and alters. The truth of the manner is
that's just the opposite of what this attribute means. Everything is in
the presence of God. He sees all things. Nothing gets by God. Once again
as a child of God if this frightens you then a basic fundamental misunderstanding
toward God is being appropriated. This is good news. Jesus Christ is sitting
at the right hand of His Father and they have full awareness of what is
going on in heaven, earth and hell because all these places are in His presence."(7)
Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
(8) If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou
are there. (9) If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost
parts of the sea; (10) Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right
hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:7-10. Jeremiah 23:23-24 says "(23) Am I
a God at hand, saith the Lord and not a God afar off? (24) Can any hide
himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not
I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord." This attribute speaks of the
authority of God. When we understand this we will be drawn to His Omnipresence
because God exercises gentle authority with His children. If you were mistreated
remember "the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and
the good." Proverbs 15:3.
There is also the Omnipotence of God. This speaks of
His power. In the account of creation all God had to do was think whatever
He desired into existence and it was finished. Say you have a very bad
circumstance in life and there is just no hope and you are trapped. If
this is the case you probably lost something very precious that was rightfully
yours; money, love, perhaps freedom. It could be a number of things but
when we pray to God regarding these unfortunate and unsettling setbacks
we are appealing to the Omnipotence of God. He has the power to change
your circumstances "regardless" as to what it is because God is more powerful
than man. I know the subtext of this story but here is the short version.
A woman was kidnapped and she struggled for one year. She prayed a sincere
prayer that went something like this-"God please free me and by the way
could I have a hamburger?" God in a very short time granted her both requests!
She appealed by "faith" to the Omnipotence of God. I am suspecting (although
I am not sure) that at the time she prayed to God she only had a little
faith but that is all we need. That grain of mustard seed grows into a
tree because it is a work of God. What a wonderful God we serve! Job said
"I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden
from thee." Job 42:2. God can change any difficult circumstance in His
time if He so desires. Jesus said ..."with men this is impossible, but
with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:25. If God does not change
your circumstance, He has got something bigger and better for you down
the road of life or eternity.
Strangely enough when I started writing about the number
3 I had this sense of completion in my soul because that is the very meaning
of the number. I will write another article, Lord willing and I will explain
how this perfection and completeness leads to resurrection. This application
not only shows us what our Savior Jesus Christ did for us on the cross
but this very same resurrection also applies to our life not only positionally
but also in practice. I praise God for this biblical principle! If we grasp
the meaning of the number 3 there is healing and resurrection for us on
the other side of our struggles in life because this is the perfect plan
of God for His children.
For now let me just say that the Triune Godhead has a
good and wonderful plan for our lives even though it may be hard.I challenge
each and every one of us to take a close and sober look at the (1) Omniscience
of God (2) the Omnipresence of God and (3) Omnipotence of God. This will
increase our faith and as a result we will be able to compliment God in
His Magnificence and Glory. As a result God will do great things in our
lives. We as believers in Jesus Christ just have to believe in Him. This
pleases God more than anything because without faith it is impossible to
please Him. Hebrews 11:6. The reason for this is that we are His children
and He is our Father. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal
Savior I think it would have to be obvious that He has your best interests
in His heart and mind. Come to know the great "I AM" today and be confident
of your tomorrow. A hundred years from now, a thousand years from now,
a million years from now all true believers in Jesus Christ will be worshipping
Him for all eternity. Hopefully we will choose to praise Him today.
Grace,Peace and Mercy be upon you,
