Just a thought regarding the tar oozing from the "La Brea Tar Pits" below Los Angeles.  There has been documentation in the news that the remarkable "global warming" we have just experienced in the last 10 years has been measured as coming from the inside of the earth outward.  Speculation regarding magma and superheated steam is fine but the interesting speculation is why the sudden apparent increase in temperature from the inside of the earth.  My favorites are the sun is putting out more energy due to the ratio of hydrogen to helium approaching that "magical" 50% point and the earths magnetic field which is decaying at a measured half-life of 1500 years is no longer protecting us as much from the radiation.  Which to me means we are in need of a few good meteors to get the "dynamo" inside the earth to start producing a stronger magnetic field to protect us.  Of course, this could just be the scientific explanation to future events already described in the Bible including:

Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.  Isaiah 30:26
