Dear Brother's & Sisters,I have the privilege of being part of the installation team for this fine man of God at his "last call" at the 1st Presbyterian Church Belvidere next month.Agape <><Changing the Body(The Secret Agenda of PUP)Counting time in the womb which I always do because God does, I'm 54.I'm never going to run another marathon under 2:45; and my chances of qualifying for a U.S. Open in any sport are as remote as Sammy Sosa slammin' oodles of homers without chemical assistance. My body has changed. So has the PCUSA.Maybe.While Biblical Christology and morality are upheld by our constitution (Book of Order and Book of Confessions) thus far, any connection between Presbyterianism as proposed by culturally accommodating dissidents in our franchise and the aforementioned is increasingly coincidental.Invoking ecclesia reformata, semper reformanda ("the church reformed, must always be reformed") has become the illiterate mantra of those who reverse the Biblical axiom of conformity (viz., Romans 12:1-3); forgetting the Reformed motto is part of a phrase continuing secundum verbum Dei ("according to the Word of God").In other words, Christians in our part of the Kingdom (body) have always acknowledged change must conform to Biblical revelation. Our part of the body seems to have changed apart from Biblical revelation.Maybe.We'll find out during this year's General Assembly in Birmingham, Alabama when commissioners are asked - begged if you consider the PUPpies who are scurrying around the country trying to convince presbyteries that their final report isn't really as bad as all moderate to evangelical presbyters and paradenominationals have cried - to adopt A Season of Discernment.Unless you're on crack or exchanged your gift of "discernment" for auto-suggestion, it doesn't take much perceptivity to figure out the secret agenda behind providing de facto local option in reference to constitutional standards (a Parisian notion) is to open the back door of ordination to those previously excluded by constitutional standards based upon Biblical revelation.Constitutional connectionalism dies with the adoption of PUP's deceptive final report.Putting it another way, PCUSA polity not to mention theology is precariously close to becoming a mirror image of UCC polity (anarchy?).If the PUPpies get their way, the body will be changed.I wish they'd stop lying to us and admit it.Why don't they just come out of the closet and be honest about it?Could it be that telling the truth has never worked for them? The previous sentence is to be read at least two ways. Some suggest we've got to keep up with an evolving moral and spiritual culture. Some suggest we've got more light; or that our Lord has, uh, changed His mind on some matters of personal and corporate morality and revealed that to those who've decided there's more to faith than what's in the Bible. What's next?If we can change some standards, why can't we change the standard and take a vote on whether Jesus is the only way, truth, and life? Some suggest...Hmm.Maybe that's our problem. We've become enamored by some who are suggesting human ingenuity over...Whoa!Maybe it goes back to the first commandment.Maybe it's a lot worse than I thought. For God's sake (most important) and the sake of our Presbyterian heritage (not as important but somewhat important to those of us who've liked being Presbyterian Christians), let's affirm our constitution's fidelity to Biblical revelation by not adopting PUP's final report.
