The walled city was built on top of a small mountain (or huge hill) with steep slopes for safety. The trade routes from Europe, Africa, Arabia, and Asia met on the plain below the city. Mahgeedo was very important to the world.

They also claim there were no Jewish or Christian churches in what is now Israel until recent history. Archaeologists have uncovered a mosaic floor (picture made of small, colored tiles) and the fallen stone walls of a church in Mahgeedo. The church existed between 200-300AD.The excavation’s head archaeologist, Yotam Tepper, said: “What’s clear today is that it’s the oldest archaeological remains of a church in Israel, maybe even in the entire region. What is important here is that Roman historical records, Jewish historical records, and today’s science all prove that both Jerusalem and Mahgeedo were Jewish cities. Jerusalem was the religious center and Mahgeedo controlled the economy. Conclusion: proof the land was Jewish for approximately 2000 years or more.
