God had promised land to Israel who was the grandson of Abraham and God promised it again later to Moses. Then God told Joshua it was time for them actually have it in Joshua 1:2  “…Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.”

God promised a huge area to Joshua. As Joshua was ready to cross over the Jordan River, God said in Joshua 1:3 “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. :4 Your territory will extend from the desert [Sinai] to Lebanon, and from the great river Euphrates to the Great Sea [Medeterranean Sea] on the west.” The West Bank land belongs to Israel because God gave it to them and they claimed it by living there for a long, long time.

Notice that Joshua and the other descendents of Israel needed to go all these places to own them, but they did not do that. The land they did not occupy (where their feet did not walk) is the problem today. Today we call that land Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. Muslims live there. Israel has been attacked by the combined military of all four of those countries twice and today is being attacked every day by Muslim terrorists.
