Ur - Truth to Everyone # 309e

also Shevat 21, 5766 original calendarAbraham, the common ancestor of Jews and Christians and Muslims all three, lived in Ur - Genesis 11:28-31. The busy and rich city was destroyed by invaders about 3,900 years ago. Sand and dirt covered it up and hid it. People forgot where it had been. It existed only in stories passed on by word-of-mouth; folklore. That is, except for The Bible which had written history about it.
British people who believed The Bible rode a caravan of camels and donkeys into southern Mesopotamia in 1854 looking for Ur. After much digging, they found it. Bedouin shepherds had traditionally pitched their tents in the late day shadow of the hill of covered rubble and even they didn’t remember what the hill was. All Arabs have for centuries called it the “mound of pitch.”
This all happened way down near the tip of the “fertile crescent” near the Persian Gulf right there where The Bible said it was in southern Mesopotamia. Thousands of clay documents discovered there give us information farther back in the history than anything found in Egypt, but everything had been forgotten except by The Bible. Only The Bible tells us hundreds of secrets about the past and the future and is never wrong.
Please forward this to everyone.
