(IsraelNN.com) In honor of the upcoming "Shekalim Sabbath," Reuven Prager of "Beged Ivri" (Hebrew Clothing), together with the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, have released a unique silver coin in remembrance of the "half-shekel" that Jews traditionally donated to the Holy Temple.

The coin, a brainchild of Prager, is made out of pure silver and weighs 10 gera, or some 8 grams - the weight of the original Biblical half-shekel. One side of the coin shows the encampment of the Tribes in the desert around the Mishkan (Tabernacle). The other side depicts some of the golden utensils used in the Holy Temple, as reconstructed by the Temple Institute.

The Torah portion that first mentions this special half-shekel contribution will be read aloud this Sabbath in synagogues throughout the world, as it is every year on the Sabbath preceding the month of Adar.
