"(re: John Madison)   Lets look at the definition of Treason"

John Madison,

Lets look at the definition of Treason:

  • Main Entry: trea·son
  • Pronunciation: 'tre-z & n
  • Function: noun
  • Etymology: Middle English tresoun, from Old French traison, from Latin tradition-, traditio act of handing over, from tradere to hand over, betray -- more at TRAITOR
  • 1 : the betrayal of a trust : TREACHERY

  • 2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family
    Pronunciation Key

There is a BIG difference between discussing your arm-chair quarterback opinions in the comfort of your living room among your friends/family.  It is ENTIRELY another thing to GO ABROAD and MEET with SWORN ENEMIES and PROMISE AID TO DESTROY AMERICA!

If you can't see that difference I suggest you read below:

In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation. A person who betrays the nation of their citizenship and/or reneges on an oath of loyalty and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor. Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: "...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." It is also generally considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government.

    SEC. 33-13-507. Aiding the enemy.

Any person subject to this code who:

    (1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or

    (2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or protects or gives intelligence to, or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.

SOURCES: Codes, 1942, Sec. 8529-102; Laws, 1966, ch. 538, Sec. 102, eff from and after June 1, 1966.Benedict Arnold (January 14, 1741 – June 14, 1801) was a general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He is most well-known for an act of treason against America — plotting to surrender the American fort at West Point, New York to the British. In 1780 he formed a plot to obtain the fort at West Point, New York and surrender it to the British. This would have given British forces control of the Hudson River valley and split the colonies in half. The plot was thwarted.  Today, the name Benedict Arnold has become synonymous with the word "traitor" in the United States.

Hello Deborah: You wrote: And when are we going to start prosecuting some outspoken Anti-war Democrats for Treason???  Isn't aiding and abetting a known enemy Treason??? Are you implying that ordinary Americans citizens(christian pastors, soldiers, police officers, doctors, lawyers..etc..etc)  be arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for merely disagreeing with George W. Bush's war policy? Here's an excerpt from The Omega Letter Intelligence Digest posted by Marie Komar: Under the Nazis, lies repackaged as Nazi slogans were repeated even by non-Nazis in an effort to stay under the radar of Hitler's Gestapo.Shopkeepers would put signs in the windows containing politically correct political slogans, knowing that they didn't believe them and neither did their friends and neighbors. Should I also now be reluctant(just like in nazi germany) to voice my true concerns pertaining to Bush's war policies for fear of being spyed on, (N.S.A) arrested,(Homeland Security..F.B.I.) and labled an enemy combatant resulting in a quick trip with a first class ticket to Guantanamo Bay Cuba never to be heard from ever again?
