"Complete Generation/Arlene"

Is Israel the generation or is there another hidden meaning in the scripture of Matt 24:32-34?

You are correct in that 70 is a complete generation and that we do use Israel as the counting factor in God's timing of His overall plan. We must go back to Israel's beginning, just as we would go back from the birth of a child to his 70th birthday.

Israel had it's very beginning in 1917 when the Balfour declaration came into being that gave Israel (at that time known as Zionists) the right to go and settle in the land. That was her beginning or birth.  She had 30 years of growing into adulthood.  In 1948 Israel became an official nation.  From 1948 to 1988 was her 40 years probation as an adult nation which was a complete generation.

But can we say  this scripture is meaning that "all these things will come to pass" during Israel's growing and maturing generation.  The scripture gives reference to Israel only to let us know which generation it is talking about.  We have seen Israel become a nation, yet  we are still here.  So the scripture could not have meant that all these things would be fulfilled during her 70 year growing and maturing generation.

Matt. 24:32-34  Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh;
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

All what things and what generation is this scripture talking about? It is talking about the generation that will not only see Israel become a nation, but even those who will be here until the end of this age.  Israel becoming a nation is merely the SIGN-POST, a prophecy fulfilled showing us where  we are in time, so we will know we are nearing the end of this age and what to look for next.

ALL THESE THINGS Jesus is referring to are all the things written in Matthew 24. In this whole chapter Jesus is telling us about the things that will come to pass at the end of this age which includes Israel becoming a nation, the tribulation, and even his return at the end of the tribulation.  He wants us to be aware of the time we are living in, and what will take place.  The generation who are alive during any part of this can know we are  nearing the end of this age.

Will this be the year of our departure? Only time will tell.

According to my Comprehensive Hebrew Calendar that covers 150 years, Passover will be on April 23, and Pentecost on June 12.   We must remember that in God's timing, a day begins in the previous evening when the first three evening stars appear over Israel.   That means April 23 begins at dusk on the evening of the 22nd, and June 12 begins in the evening of June 11th at dusk when it is starting to get dark.
