Hello Doves,Studies have come out about the hidden health dangers of tattoos and body piercings (other than the ear lobe). The tattoos can be a source of HIV infection, as well as Hepatitis B and C. Some of these infections lie dormant for decades. Piercings can become staph infected and cause disfigurement and scarring. A Christian young woman in my family got a navel piercing which became infected and needed emergency medical treatment. She goes to a Christian college and she said a lot of her girlfriends have tattoos and piercings. I was shocked to think that these young people were so taken over by the dominate youth culture even at a Christian college. They also wear clothing that they see on the female media stars. When I go into department stores and look at what is offered to young women to wear, it saddens me. There's hardly anything modest at all. Because we now have an almost total consumer culture, sewing their own clothes isn't even a skill for a lot of young women!
. Consumer culture teaches only how to be a "good" shopper, not how to make things for yourself, like healthy homemade food and clothing.Surveys at a Texas college showed 1 in 5 students had a tattoo or a body piercing.
Jesus loves everyone whether they're tattooed or pierced, He looks on the heart, but the potential for heartbreak from the diseases is there.
In Christ's Love,
