Dear Five Doves,
I cannot know the man's heart but on the Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia George and Martha Washington are buried in a small outdoor mausoleum.  Above their graves inside the small structure is a scripture carved in the stone.   Although I don't remember the exact scripture I can remember that when I saw it I remarked to myself in exclamation and surprise, "So he believed in the rapture!"
Also while we are on the subject of George Washington my son showed me an article in the book "To the Best of My Ability".  It showed that George Washington also used the campaign slogan of "W".  Interesting. . . could it be the first and the last presidents used the same slogan?
