I have no insights on the Jacob and Leah/Laban situation but there may be some meaning there. Jacob actually served Laban for 20 years.
As to Joseph, I previously suggested that the seven good years might have been 1998-2005, and the seven bad years the Tribulation of 2005-2012, but this is speculation.
